Plate Processors

3D is currently developing a line of Plate processing tables aimed at the structural steel fabrication industry. The basic table is 6” X 12” with larger sizes available. The basic table includes a high definition plasma cutting torch, a heavy duty air/electric drill and an Oxy/Fuel cutting torch. The Plasma torch is capable of marking, piercing and cutting up to 1.25 inch mild steel and cutting up to 2 inch mild steel using an edge start. The drill is capable of making 2 inch or larger hole using an annular bit. Both are controlled by a Promotion iCNC controller which can be programmed to automatically mark the part using the plasma torch at a low amperage, bore the holes using the drill and then cut out the piece using the same plasma torch at a high current.

The table frame and cutting rails consist of a freestanding unitized construction utilizing a flying bridge type gantry. This system combines the strength and rigidity of the flying bridge while allowing quicker setup and minimal site preparation. The table frame and rail supports are constructed of 4” X 6” Steel tubing. The Gantry beam is 6” X 12” Steel tubing supported by a boxed end frame made of 4” x 4” steel tubing running on 50mm precision linear rails . The material support bed is equipped with zoned downdraft chambers that divide the length of the table into 2’ segments. Only the zone in use is exhausted which significantly decreases the size of the air evacuation system needed.

The cutting torch, drill and Oxy/Fuel torch are mounted on the gantry with twin 35mm rails. They are positioned with a single motor located on the plasma torch Z-axis mount. The drill is securely clamped to the torch mount during drilling or dual plasma/drilling operations, but can be detached and parked clear of the cutting surface during pure plasma operations. A similar detachable mount accommodates a gas-cutting torch for materials too thick to cut using the plasma torch. can provide Air Compressors to fit the needs of your table, power supply and air filtration system. All our air compressors are heavy duty cast iron, two stage compressors with 30 gallon or larger storage tanks.
